Common name?

[edit]

What's the common name for this village? I doubt it's 'Tziaos' in English. 31.153.94.214 (talk) 21:04, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

You are probably right. Kiados gets 10 times as many hits as Tziaos in a plain Google search. --T*U (talk) 21:12, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
The original article was named Kiados and started with "Kiados or Tsiaos in Cypriot dialect". It was moved in April this year, but I find no explanation to why. It should probably move back. --T*U (talk) 21:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm kind of weary of Google for this purpose. There's lots of sites that copy Wikipedia, and there's no way to know the number of false-positives. 31.153.94.214 (talk) 22:15, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: Moved. Well, despite the potentially controversy mentioned, nobody has actually come up with an oppose reason in several weeks of listing, so moving this as unopposed.   Amakuru (talk) 17:57, 25 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

TziaosChatos – The current name is a relatively obscure rendering of the town's name, based on a mispronunciation, unrecognisable to a modern audience. This is the more common rendering, and this can be seen in Google Books search results. GGT (talk) 13:59, 6 January 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 16:06, 13 January 2019 (UTC)--Relisting.   samee  converse  17:16, 25 January 2019 (UTC)rReply

This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:01, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • This is potentially controversial due to the town being situated in the disputed area of Northern Cyprus and for instance the Greek Wikipedia uses the name Serdarli. --Pudeo (talk) 14:01, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
