- Not sure what you mean, but some BDSM belt images have been added to the article since I last looked at it, more suitable for the other article... AnonMoos (talk) 23:32, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Inconsistent narrative
[edit]The lead explains that chastity belts are a myth, but the article body, while in some places is consistent in saying that there is weak evidence of the belts actually being used in the pre-modern period, some other parts of the history section writes as if the chastity belts are historical. Danial Bass (talk) 20:51, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Then again, after re-reading it I think the delineation of it (in the article body) being a myth stops in the 16th century, then ignore my message (not inconsistent then) Danial Bass (talk) 20:57, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- It was much more of a Renaissance phenomenon than Medieval. The evidence for rather limited use of belts in the Renaisance period seems very reasonable to me, but doesn't satisfy some people. (It doesn't help that museum displays of historical chastity belts are often misdated at best, outright 19th- or 20th-century forgeries at worst). Some modern tales, such as knights going away to the Crusades leaving their wives in chastity belts, are absolutely pure myths (100% unhistorical). AnonMoos (talk) 14:54, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
