Opinion not fact

No string band in early country music equalled the Ramblers' controlled, clean, well-patterned sound."[1] Just because somebody said it in a book doesn't make it true. This article tries to establish this as a fact by citing someones opinion. Arguably Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers might rival this group.Tomandzeke (talk) 03:47, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

old time or old timey

This article uses the term old timey while Wikipedia redirects old timey music to old time music. A consensus is needed Wikipedia on whether old timey or old time should be used. Tomandzeke (talk) 03:47, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

cover artist?

I question the statement "Poole was essentially a cover artist, who composed few, if any, of his recordings." A look at the BMI Repertoire Search shows Poole wrote or co-wrote most of the recordings listed on this page. I realize that the author of record is not necessarily the actual author. But I feel either cite the statement or remove it as it may not be correct. 71.172.62.106 (talk) 04:23, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Poole was not a songwriter. He adapted traditional songs, a fair number of which he was the first to record. The fact that he's credited on the label for many songs is the result of music industry copyright practices. However, I would question the use of the term "cover artist" for anyone who recorded before the 1950s. Looking back at the article, I see this has been changed. Allreet (talk) 19:33, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
