Charge order vs. charge-density wave

[edit]

Charge ordering, as defined in this article, seems to be largely synonymous with the term charge density wave (CDW). This is largely confirmed by the references used here, some of which only use the term CDW. Charge ordering is perhaps a slightly more general term: the green-white stripe patterns in the figures represent simple CDWs, whereas the checkerboard pattern is a superposition of two CDWs. Is this difference in generality enough to merit two articles or is there some more significant difference? Jähmefyysikko (talk) 08:29, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
