clean-up and higher level of article protection urgently needed

"In March, an incident occurred at a hotel in Brazil in which the singer’s bodyguard inappropriately approached and humiliated an 11-year-old child, apparently with the singer’s approval, prompting the mayor to ban her from performing in the city." this edit has been up for an hour now.
these allegations stem from a social media post which is also an unverified secondhand account (jorginho, the source of the claims, said he wasn't even there). also, moralistic words like "inappropriately" should never be in wikivoice. this addition is entirely unencyclopedic. it's very evident that there will be a lot of editors like the OP above who dislike roan and want her article to be more negative under the guise of neutrality, but will add blatantly unencyclopedic prose like that quote. the only reason i can't edit it myself is that i am not autoconfirmed.
i strongly advise other editors to be more vigilant about roan's page because more people will try to do this, writing unverified claims in wikivoice, adding stuff like "apparently with the singer's approval" (not befitting the prose standards of this site), etc.
neutrality isn't merely about being "less positive." it also requires not putting undue weight on a clearly developing story in which roan also makes claims to the contrary. ~2026-10002-49 (talk) 14:49, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Chappell Roan did not change her legal name.

This page frames it as if Chappell Roan goes by her professional name legally, unlike Marilyn Monroe or Freddie Mercury. Chappell Roan has stated that the name is more of her "drag persona." Yehoshua667 (talk) 11:34, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Seconding this. It struck me as really odd for a celebrity lede. I also don't think the pronunciation needs to be inside a note, and it should have a citation to boot. My suggestion for a rewrite:

"Kayleigh Rose Amstutz (born February 19, 1998), known professionally as Chappell Roan (/ˈtʃæpəl/ CHAP-əl)^[1], is an American singer and songwriter. …" LesStudios (talk) 15:46, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

I personally think that changing Roan to Amstutz would be more appropriate, because like the topic above, I would like to state that she did not have her legal name changed. This article implies that and that seems mildly misleading. GiftedGirI (talk) 23:04, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Roan is the name for which she's most known. This article does not, at any point, imply that's her legal name; most Wikipedia articles don't make any claim about the subject's "legal name". See also MOS:LEGALNAME and MOS:SURNAME.

In a much earlier version of this article, I had used "Amstutz" to differentiate the person from her stage persona as it is common in articles about drag queens to use different names/pronouns in the same article depending on context (see, e.g., Trixie Mattel, Nymphia Wind), but this was overwritten by another editor. If anything, I think this rationale is far stronger than the idea of there being confusion about a "legal name" (per MOS:SURNAME). Wracking ^talk! 23:31, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

In the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Early Life section, Roan's background is self-described as "conservative and Christian," which seems to be supported in the supported in the references, but the wikilink is to Conservative Christianity, which doesn't seem to be the intended subject.
