Merge Grain

The only difference that I can see between Grain and Cereal is that the former includes pseudocereals, legumes and oil seeds, and Heegoop alleges on the talk page that this violates our original research policy. Lophotrochozoa (talk) 22:36, 21 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - although there is significant overlap between the two, much of this has arisen through the use of excerpts from Cereal being used in Grain. I believe that there is merit in establishing a clear consensus of where primary information should lie. With such agreement it whould be possible to establish clear blue water between the two. Cereals are clearly cultivated grass species, whereas Grains can be found across a wide range of plant families. I see no benefit in a merge and many incocistences and confusion arising from a merge.  Velella  Velella Talk   23:25, 21 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose - this is a non-starter. The most cursory glance at Grain will show that it (correctly) covers many non-cereal crops. The merger would make no sense, and indeed do serious damage. - Chiswick Chap (talk)
So you disagree with User:Heegoop's argument that it is original research to define Grain that way? Lophotrochozoa (talk) 00:04, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
No idea why user H should have thought that, but if so it was nonsense. The term is certainly used that way. Try a Google search for "lentil grain", for instance. Chiswick Chap (talk) 00:09, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose There's not much that cereal and grain have in common so to merge them doesn't make much sense. Rager7 (talk) 05:53, 9 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Images on this page - Possible Review?

[edit]

Checked the images for wikipedia on all other languages and only in the english version I see much of political tones (Ex; Russia x Ukraine bombed grain supply, two pictures of Israel between other images, picture of children picking corn in Zambia), maybe this could be reviewed? Not sure if this is a great concern, however I worry about subtle propaganda of any kind in pages like this. Thank you.

observation: I am aware these places and situations exist, however I don't see how it adds to any of the page informations being presented, instead more pictures of cereals and the production could be added like shown in wiki versions of other languages for Cereals. Rwebe (talk) 16:16, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done - this is a good article, including its images which represent article content well, present no propaganda, and is adequately monitored by hundreds of Wikipedians.
Please don't use the talk page to give vague impressions, WP:NOTFORUM. Use the talk page to make suggestions for specific changes, with a WP:RS source if it applies to an image. Zefr (talk) 16:55, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Zefr will do so, thank you for your reply. Rwebe (talk) 17:02, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
