Nationality

[edit]

The only source I can find that discusses Ennis's nationality says that she is English.[1] I can find no mention of her being Irish. Bibeyjj (talk) 12:24, 16 October 2022 (UTC) Bibeyjj (talk) 12:24, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I've added a source indicating that she was born in England, and have also spelt out that her father was Irish. There are two sources stating British: klais.de and Rhinegold, but I don't think either of these is reliable on this and I'm not actually sure that bach-cantatas is either. Klais.de and Rhinegold are commercial sites so won't have a journalistic standard of accuracy. Also, Klais.de is a German site and bach-cantatas is based in Israel; see WP:UKNATIONALS and the statement "non-UK media can make simplistic (and erroneous) assumptions about UK citizens: some use only British or English to describe them". Short of a statement by Ennis or a better source, though, I think it has to be British or English - certainly can't be Irish as we have no sources at all supporting that, just the fact that her father was Irish.
