Carlos Chagas, Notable physician in world history

This remarkable doctor first elaborated a classic, textbook version of the lifecycle of a particularly virulent parasitic organism targeted specifically and catastrophically against the parasympathetic nervous system. In advanced stages, Chagas Disease destroys vagal control of the heart, esophagus and large bowel. Unfortunately, the Riduvid Bug continues to principally manifest itself amongst those living in crowded and primitive conditions in South and Central America. Chagasic, pure diastolic heart failure is becoming increasingly appreciated in North America and remains a difficult challenge.
