Big round ring pictures

Our current pictures depicting the structure of caldarchaeol consists of big round rings. This image, although probably very low energy in less-crowded environments, cannot be representative of how it looks like when it gets those phosphate head groups and get stuffed with many of its siblings in a cell membrane surrounded by water. Indeed, figure 5 at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1366815/ looks pretty not-bent. Artoria2e5 🌉 08:05, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

It is a 72-membered ring. It would be good to have a category, but unless there are other rings with 72 members, it is not worth having! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:40, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Biomarker potential

Nomenclature

I am adding a section on nomenclature since the name "caldarchaeol" has been given many different definitions over the years.
