– There is no other precinct in Illinois named any of these names, so having the county name in the title is unnecessary. 2600:1700:6180:6290:FCB9:6185:B93B:D442 (talk) 17:47, 12 June 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. - Maybe – I'm not familiar with precincts, and it's not clear how we should treat them. Like cities? The US Census ref has a heading "County Subdivision" and says "Cache precinct, Alexander County, Illinois is a city, town, place equivalent, or township located in Alexander County, Illinois. Cache precinct, Alexander County, Illinois has a land area of 57.8 square miles." Another has has Name: Cache Election Precint. If it's a county subdivision, maybe the county name always goes with it? It is a census thing? An election thing? or what? Maybe it's not even notable, and the precincts should be discussed in their county articles? Who can tell me more about how these should be treated? Dicklyon (talk) 03:25, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- So I found List of precincts in Illinois, which says they're not necessarily electoral districts. And most don't have WP articles. And the ones that do have articles seem to include the county name, and are pretty minimal stubs (at least, the few I checked). So we should work these all the same way, in terms of naming and notability. Dicklyon (talk) 03:33, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- For this county, the articles are bloated out with the wordy demographics sections, which would be much more useful if condensed into a table for all the precincts. Dicklyon (talk) 03:35, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
- Support. I can't find any more specific guidelines advising otherwise, so I don't really see much of a reason to deviate from the WP:USPLACE's "only when necessary", which apparently also applies to "Minor civil divisions", which per Dick's finding of List of precincts in Illinois this seems to be a type of, though not a township specifically (which are the other type of minor civil division in the other counties of the state).
