Prose

[edit]
  • Both Livington and Livingston are used in the prose. Are these interchangeable names, since "Livington" has more appearances in the article text?
  • You could link to "warship".
  • You could consider using the inflation parameter to denote what the $42,000 or $80,000 would be worth today.
  • Way → Frederick Way
    • Since it is his first mention in the prose. You might also consider describing him briefly.
    • I've just attributed this to Way's Packet Directory; the link for the book is actually a piped link going to the author's page. Hog Farm Talk 19:08, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Launched by at least January 1862,[4] and was commissioned later that month under the command of First Lieutenant Francis B. Renshaw.

Source-to-text spot check

Hog Farm I could only access reference no. 1. Could you please let me know of any way to access the rest of the sources? MSincccc (talk) 07:11, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I can either provide quotes from the sources or email you scans of selected items. Hog Farm Talk 15:44, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I typically spot-check 5–6 sources (2–3 for shorter articles) before completing a spotcheck. Scans of selected items for 2–3 sources (except no. 1, which I have already checked) would be appreciated. MSincccc (talk) 16:36, 27 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@MSincccc: - I've got photos/scans of Canney pp. 150-151 and the page from Way. The email this user doesn't appear to have a function to attach files so if you'll send me a wikimail I'll respond with the scans for Canney & Way. McCaul is available through Project Muse on the Wikipedia Library. If there are specific pages of Chatelain that you would like to look at, I can send scans of those, too. Hog Farm Talk 01:26, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I cannot see an “Email this user” option on your user page. Would you mind initiating the Wikimail so I can receive the scans? MSincccc (talk) 07:29, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
