Use of given name

[edit]

Per request of the subject in this BLP, please do not add his real name to the article. For reference.

Bizarre and unhelpful not to have a person's name on his Wikipedia page. The article should at least mention whether "CGP Grey" is a username, YouTube channel title, pseudonym, or name (with first initials only). The article only makes sense if you already know who he is. ~2026-25854-69 (talk) 14:18, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
WP:BLP states that BLPs "must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy." Although one could build consensus here that his full name ought to be included, I do not think a reader will be confused by the use of a username. It is 2026, not 1996. Usernames are a pretty well understood phenomenon. SamWilson989 (talk) 22:39, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Requesting consensus on English variety

[edit]

the subject of this article is American, speaks American English, produces media in American English, and is only based of London. for me, it was very odd to discover that the article uses {{EngvarB}} and DMY dates. per MOS:TIES, I wish to establish consensus on what the article's variety of English should be. Not living in UK?

[edit]

@PharaohCrab: Regarding this edit, do you have a source for Grey not living in the UK anymore? Cerebral726 (talk) 15:07, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

In his video where he ranks state flags he calls North Carolina his adoptive state PharaohCrab (talk) 15:59, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure he lives there from that. I think he just considers it his American base because (as he's mentioned) his parents have lived there for a while and not New York where he grew up. I think we'll need a better source such as him mentioning he moved on a podcast or something. Cerebral726 (talk) 19:52, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
