WP:URFA/2020 and length concerns

[edit]

I am reviewing this article as part of WP:URFA/2020, an initiative to review Wikipedia's oldest featured articles. When this article was promoted to FA status in 2009, it was at over 12,000 words, which is larger than the current recommended size at WP:TOOBIG. Today, the article is over 16,000 words and is English Wikipedia's largest featured article. Nikkimaria added a "too long" banner in October 2025 and there have been few edits to the article to address this concern. Is anyone interested in spinning out or copyediting the article for prose bloat? I am going to add this to WP:FARGIVEN to get more attention on this notice.
