  • After high school, he enrolled at Kansas State Agricultural College in 1931. --> In 1931, after high school, he enrolled at Kansas State Agricultural College.
  • After recovering, he played "great games" and his play was reported --> I would just paraphrase "great games" as its probbaly general enough to not need to be quoted
  • 6 ft 3 in and weighed 240 lb these should be spelled out
  • He saw action in Germany seems too colloquial, "He participated in battles" or something more encyclopedic
  • The whole last paragraph has a lot of "He... " sentences. Can you try to reword a bit so every sentence doesn't start that way
  • References:
    • All appear to be formatted consistently and appropriate for what is being cited
    • Ref 9 needs an access-date
    • Spot checks: 2, 5, 8, 12, 15
      • Regarding #2, all it says is "east/west game". Is there a more specific source that could cite this specific game?
      • Regarding #15, the reference just says he was ill for some time, not necessarily "his last years". I would change this up.

Nice work. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:12, 19 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • ... that despite being named in college as the best at his position in the U.S., football player Buster Maddox only appeared in one NFL game after getting injured in practice for an all-star game?
  • Source: All-American (which means "best at his position in the U.S." - I figured that international readers would benefit from having it explained in the hook), injury, one game
