Proposed update to final paragraph

[edit]

I would like to propose a correction to the final paragraph to ensure it aligns with Wikipedia's Biographies of Living Persons (WP:BLP) policy regarding neutrality. The current description of "false claim" implies intent not supported by the official record. I propose replacing the final paragraph with the following:

"According to the byFaith (official PCA magazine) article from May 2025, during a video podcast, Chapell made a mis-statement regarding a list of individuals. He later issued a formal apology in byFaith magazine. He subsequently retired as Stated Clerk, which the PCA Administrative Committee accepted effective June 2025."

I agree that the term "falsely claimed" leans into an accusatory tone. However, Chapell did late admit the statements were "not appropriate or true", so calling it a mis-statement goes too far. Note that the material is well sourced and received substantial media coverage.
I have rewritten the paragraph to remove the accusatory tone and to remove the names of those mentioned. I hope this edit works, and if not please open a new request.
Also - the other material in the religious service section of the article has no citations at all ... per Wikipedia policy, citations are needed. Fiske (talk) 14:54, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
