Mask Attack

When reading about the Hashcat system, I came upon the term "Mask Attack" which as far as I understand is a form of Brute force attack but with a limitations on the form of the forces tried. Breaking cryptosystems vs passwords

This article originally focused on breaking cryptosystems, but gradually shifted to also include passwords. A lot of information applies only to one of the two and the article might need significant copy editing to fix this. Note that password cracking is already a self-contained article.
