Not much more than a list of locomotives

[edit]

This article is no more than a tabulated list of locomotive specifications and numbers with little or no encyclopedic information. SouthernElectric 15:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've started on a tidy-up and will add more text later. Biscuittin (talk) 22:21, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Possible change to the title of this article

[edit]

This article is currently named in accordance the Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Railways naming conventions for British rolling stock allocated a TOPS number. A proposal to change this convention and/or its scope is being discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Railways#Naming convention, where your comments would be welcome.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Avicennasis (talkcontribs) 18:30, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Picture Editing Permission

[edit]

Excuse me, can I please edit one of the photos on this page? Dinoboyaz (talk) 00:56, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

It depends upon several factors, primarily the image licensing. Which image are you thinking of? --Redrose64 (talk) 13:50, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Last Passenger Service

[edit]

An IP editor has twice added a column headed "Last Passenger Service", without any sourcing at all. This, to me, doesn't just go against WP:V (and possibly WP:NOR as well), but is information of interest only to trainspotters, and is not the level of detail that an encyclopedia should go to (see WP:NOTEVERYTHING). --Redrose64 (talk) 11:18, 9 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Agree. The last passenger service, and/or last goods service, for the entire class may be useful in the text of the Withdrawal section, but only if supported by a reliable source (and presumably would need to be qualified by "in British Rail service"). Incident in Top Gear

[edit]

Hi I watched the episode of Top Gear and shouldn't you list that D123 / 45125 in the list Accidents and incidents was involved with collision of camper van on Great Central Railway? Trooper201 (talk) 12:27, 18 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

45015

[edit]

Correct me if I wrong but the list of preserved British Rail diesel locomotives states that 45015 was scrapped in November of 2021 The article should be change with this info in mind SSBN-737 (talk) 21:26, 31 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Does the list have a source that can be brought over? Danners430 (talk) 22:42, 31 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
No, it just links to this article. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 07:29, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Then it should be removed from the list article, not added here. Danners430 (talk) 07:39, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
There is a section at the bottom of the page but it uses the same sources that I deleted from this article as mainly UGC/SPS. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 08:03, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just had a look, and I do wonder - one of the sites looks like it’s the official updates page for the preservation group… wouldn’t that be a primary source? Danners430 (talk) 08:21, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
That's the problem, I can't find a secondary source to verify the loco ever existed in preservation. Reading between the lines, it was never a viable proposition, pursued by a group with more enthusiasm than abilty. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 08:37, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
