[edit]JA: The introduction was specifically written to serve the needs of several disciplines — from math to phil to stat and comp sci — that use concepts related to boolean-valued functions, and to clarify some of the variations in terminology among them. - Certainly all these disciplines make use of indicator functions. But how is "Boolean-valued function" anything other than a synonym for "indicator function"? One of them should simply be a redirect to the other. --Vaughan Pratt (talk) 05:29, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Boolean?
[edit]This article has the presumption that Boolean-valued mean 0 or 1. Actually, if the range of a function is another Boolean algebra, then the function can be considered Boolean valued. The unnecessary restriction to {0,1} is also perpetuated in Boolean domain, cited from this article.
Furthermore, if {0,1} is to be the range, then propositional function is a more common name for the concept, though indicator function is also used. Perhaps all three articles should be merged. — Rgdboer (talk) 22:54, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
