Betws used in the Welsh language refers to “birch” not prayer house from the Middle English
[edit]Attributing a Welsh word to a Middle English word origins is just wrong and poor research. Betws (Birch tree), was a significant tree in the pre-Christian culture. It is not a house of prayer. That is “Llan” or Egloise but the confusion lies in a lack of investigating what was done in a coed of betws in early Christian and pre-Christian Celtic culture in Cymru. It’s not hard to find and it matters because to deny otherwise is to continue the erasure of a the people of a colonized, stolen land . ~2026-10166-13 (talk) 20:03, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
