Is this Lany, Benjamin (15911675), bishop of Ely as per LanyDictionary of National Biography (subscription required)? If so, I believe the article title should be Benjamin Lany to follow the more RS source. I thus propose merging this article Benjamin Laney (bishop) to Benjamin Lany (bishop) --Senra (Talk) 17:44, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Moved to Benjamin Lany (no disambiguation required). Charles Matthews (talk) 05:43, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I see it has been moved already. Perhaps a little hasty? I still think Dictionary of National Biography is WP:RS. However the complexity here is that there are 14 article-space links to Benjamin Laney (bishop), a street, Bishop Laney's Drive in Ely (CB6 1BZ) named after him and also a registered UK charity Bishop Laney's charity registration number:311306. I am no expert on wikipedia DABs. In this instance, I am inclined to consider:
Can we debate with propose, comment or oppose before we move it again?

It can be moved again if there is good reason (the initial request wasn't well-formed, but it is perfectly sensible to have him at the name the ODNB uses). There is no particular need to change the instances where there is a piped link from Benjamin Laney (bishop). For figures from the 17th century, there is no "standard" name anyway: using a name not requiring extra disambiguation is also reasonable, and the theoretical guidelines would apply to do this:

Then this is sorted according to the book.
