Steinbauer is such a nice German surname. Does anyone have information on Ben's German or even German-Jewish descent? 91.66.9.250 (talk) 03:46, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Update biography, credits, and recent work

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

I am Ben Steinbauer, the subject of this article, and therefore have a conflict of interest. I am requesting that an uninvolved editor review the following updates rather than making the changes myself.

1. High Hopes: Change the year from 2022 to 2024 and update my credit to showrunner and executive producer.

Proposed entry:

  • High Hopes (2024) – showrunner, executive producer

Hulu's official press materials identify the series as a 2024 Hulu Original and credit Ben Steinbauer as an executive producer and showrunner: https://press.hulu.com/shows/high-hopes/

2. Princess Grace Award: Change the Princess Grace Award date to 2006 wherever it appears in the article. The article currently gives inconsistent dates.

The Princess Grace Foundation lists Benjamin Steinbauer as a 2006 award recipient: https://pgfusa.org/princess-grace-award-winners/

3. Lead: Update the opening description to:

"Benjamin Jeffrey Steinbauer (born July 28, 1977) is an American film director, producer, television showrunner, and podcast host. He is best known for directing the documentary films Winnebago Man (2009) and Chop & Steele (2022). His television work includes the PBS series Stories of the Mind, the CBS series Pink Collar Crimes, and the Hulu reality series High Hopes, for which he served as showrunner and executive producer. He co-hosts the documentary filmmaking podcast Doc Walks with filmmaker Keith Maitland."

Sources for the newer information: Hulu: https://press.hulu.com/shows/high-hopes/

Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/doc-walks/id1813194686

4. Doc Walks: Add the following to the career section:

"In 2025, Steinbauer and filmmaker Keith Maitland launched Doc Walks, a podcast about documentary filmmaking that they co-host."

Apple Podcasts identifies Ben Steinbauer and Keith Maitland as the podcast's creators and hosts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/doc-walks/id1813194686

5. Stories of the Mind: Update the career section to reflect Steinbauer's directing work on the public television series Stories of the Mind.

Proposed wording: “Steinbauer directed episodes of the public television series Stories of the Mind.”

PBS program page: https://www.pbs.org/show/stories-mind/

6. Chop & Steele: Add the following to the career section:

"In 2022, Steinbauer and filmmaker Berndt Mader co-directed the feature documentary Chop & Steele. The film premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Festival. Steinbauer also served as a producer and executive producer of the film."

Tribeca Festival: https://tribecafilm.com/films/chop-steele-2022

  • Why it should be changed:

The article contains outdated and inconsistent information and does not reflect several significant, reliably documented credits since it was last substantially updated. These requests correct the date and credits for High Hopes, resolve the conflicting Princess Grace Award dates, and add more recent work including Chop & Steele and Doc Walks. I have provided published sources for each requested change.

Because I am the subject of the article, I am not making these changes directly and am requesting review by an uninvolved Wikipedia editor.
