Copied from Alp page?

[edit]

The final sentence begins: "Protections against an alp include..." implying that part of this article was simply copied from the Alp (folklore) page. Can anyone verify that this final paragraph is in fact accurate for the Basty? Mastakos (talk) 20:35, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I looked at that article and you're right. This is blatantly plagiarism. Large parts of that article were copied with the German words replaced with Turkic words, though the author missed the one you noticed. The material is unreferenced here, but is referenced at Alp (folklore) were it came from. This material was already present at Alp (folklore) in old revisions before this article was created.
I've deleted the parts that I was able to identify as being copied; hopefully I didn't miss anything. I have a suspicion the unreferenced material that wasn't copied is probably original research (WP:OR). This article could probably use further scrutiny. – Scyrme (talk) 21:32, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Turns out much of the rest of was copied from a second article Mare (folklore), taking from revisions which predate this article in 2013. – Scyrme (talk) 21:40, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
There's not much left after deleting the copied material and given how much was copied I'm not even sure what's left wasn't copied from somewhere that I wasn't able to find.
Maybe this is a case of WP:TNT? – Scyrme (talk) 21:50, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
