She was a slave, per two independent Western sources, including one by noted German sinologist Wolfgang Bartke. Don't rely on Wikipedia for information about controversial topics, they're inexorably POV-ridden. Slavery in Tibet was blown out of proportion by Chinese propaganda, but neither was it nonexistent as exile-Tibetan propaganda claims. For an authoritative discussion of the topic, see A.
