Dude...

[edit]

Dude, it looks EXACTLY like Emela-Ntouka :O bizarre, there's no way they knew about the african mythical creature at the time..

Probably just a coincidence. I wouldn't go losing any sleep over it. Holy crap it does

Category: Fictional dinosaurs

[edit]

Please don't re-add this article to "Fictional dinosaurs". It is clearly identified in the article as being a therapsid - not a dinosaur. -pinkgothic 13:01, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Baragon is NOT a Triceratops

[edit]

Ok, I'm not even sure why people are calling Baragon a "Mutated/Irradiated Triceratops". HE'S NOT! Baragon (In the Showa era, at least) is a generic (IE: Not of one particular genus or species or whatnot) mutated dinosaur-thing, and he's an ancient guardian-type monster in GMK. Seriously, Baragon doesn't even look like a Triceratops. I'll point out the differences for those who cannot see them-

  • 1. Baragon has ONE horn, Triceratops had THREE,
  • 2. Baragon has floppy ears, Triceratops had a frill,
  • 3. Baragon ate MEAT, Triceratops ate PLANTS,
  • 4. Baragon has razor-sharp teeth, Triceratops had a beak,
  • 5. Baragon could burrow underground, Triceratops cannot,
  • 6. Baragon is a surprisingly good jumper, Triceratops couldn't jump at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.220.144.243 (talk) 18:46, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well-written

[edit]

I believe the prose and organisation are adequate for GA.

Verifiable with no original research

[edit]
  • GameSpot supports Baragon being 82 feet tall, comparatively agile, able to burrow, and use flame-breath attacks.
  • Hobby Japan supports that the original Baragon suit was subsequently remodelled into Pagos, Neronga, Magular and Gabora.
  • Ryfle and Godziszewski support UPA's joint production arrangement with Toho and discuss the production's shift toward Baragon/monster action.
  • ComicBook.com supports describing Baragon as underutilised and called its design memorable.
  • Several claims in In spin-off media section lack citations. In particular, 2019's Godziban, and the appearances in 1990's Godzilla, Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters, Godzilla Trading Battle, Godzilla: Unleashed, and Godzilla Defense Force are presently uncited.
  • Reference 10 for Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! is not an editorial IGN reporting. It is a user-written GameFAQs walkthrough by "Apathetic Aardvark" that was mirrored elsewhere. Replace it with a reliable source.
  • Ōta ... accurately replicate[d] Baragon's bipedal stature contradicts the article's own description of Baragon as quadrupedal. The intended wording is evidently "quadrupedal stance/walk".
  • I found no problematic close paraphrasing/copying.

Broad in coverage

[edit]

Illustrated appropriately

[edit]
  • The two Baragon film screenshots are low-resolution non-free images with article-specific fair-use rationales, so those are fine.
  • The 1965 Japanese theatrical poster is the problem. It has only PD-Japan-organization and explicitly does not establish U.S. public-domain status. Japanese works must be free in both Japan and the United States, and works published after 1930 which were still protected in Japan on 1 January 1996 are usually U.S.-protected through the URAA. So, a 1965 Toho corporate work appears to fall into that problem.

Bottom line

[edit]

After the above is resolved, I see not other issues that should stop this nomination from being passed. Ping me when done. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:19, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Vanderwaalforces I have addressed the above. Was unaware of the image issues, instead replaced the poster with a PD image of Frankenstein's monster. I've fixed the bipedal typo and removed the IGN source. I've added citations to all the spin-off media where possible, though many had to be PRIMARY since an obscure character in obscure games unfortunately lacks a lot of secondary citations. That said, Godzilland, Godziban, and Ongoing are all multi part series where Baragon recurs throughout, so I'm a bit unsure as to how to cite those; I believe they should be covered as a whole under MOS:PLOT anyway since his appearance in them is relatively noncontroversial information, but if you would like primary cites all the same let me know how you would like that done. I’m okay with the changes, congrats. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 17:41, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
