• Q from promoter @Cielquiparle and Jishara: This article relies extensively on Indian History Collective; can you comment on the reliability of this source? It appears to be published by a PR and branding consultancy, and while it lists a "team" it does not designate any editors. Curious for your thoughts here, thanks! • @Dclemens1971: Personally I think it's reliable - members of the team are listed on the About page here and include some pretty prominent journalists such as the group's head Pragya Tiwari. However, more to the point the article used here is a direct translated quotation from a published scholarly book (Begums of Awadh, published in Varanasi in 1980), which is cited in other scholarly articles (such as this one) - it appears the only edit done by the Collective is inserting the Editor's Note. That KS Santha chapter is from her 1980 book, The Begums of Awadh, published with a grant from the Indian Council of Historical Research. The Indian History Collective website just had the rights to republish the one chapter. (It is explained on that page.) After working on the article, I actually went to the library and read some of the other chapters. The book is widely cited in academic journal articles and books, so it was good to be able to refer to the actual source and also see what other historians who came after her say about her work (particularly Nicholas J. Abbott, but pretty much all the other sources on the topic make some reference to her work; Richard B. Barnett is her contemporary). Like any other source, you have to use care when citing it, but the work is respected and itself draws upon and analyses multiple primary and secondary sources in English and Persian and Urdu.
