Inappropriate citation template for the old TTY bulletins
[edit]I have raised a challenge to the fact that {{cite document}} has been redirected to {{tl:cite journal}} and consequently (if the material cited is not an academic journal) the citation is being changed to {{cite web}}, which is nonsensical for a 1938 document. For discussion, see Help talk:Citation Style 1/Archive 81#"Cite document" needs its own template. Redirecting to cite journal is illogical and unfriendly. Unless anyone objects, i propose to change the infobox from {{Infobox punctuation mark}} to {{infobox symbol}}. The proposed new version is shown here. Comments? John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:16, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- I should give my reasons:
- I have never seen the symbol used for punctuation
- The appearance of the symbol infobox is neater, IMO but then again wp:Mandy Rice-Davies applies, since I wrote it. But I do think that the sizes of the symbols are more in keeping with the body text size.
- This infobox provides the Unicode code-points

Modern usage
[edit]I would love it if someone would cover the modern phenomenon of folks on the Internet calling '/' a "backslash." I dunno when it started, and at some point I thought maybe I was taking crazy pills. But no, I was right, / is the forward slash (makes sense reading left to right, but anyway...) I checked the 'backslash' and 'slash' pages, and no mention of this curious phenomena. I don't have it in me to do it, just noting that it is an absence that should be rectified!
