Context for autocoding is much broader than food industry / manufacturing

[edit]

The article as currently titled should be expanded to include the broader application of autocoding, such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics use for Automated Coding of Injury and Illness Data and for occupational autocoding based on job titles.

If not broadened then the title should be contextualized as "Autocoding (manufacturing)" or "Autocoding (food industry)".

In the broader-context article, a general discussion about the value of standards and standard codes for machine actionable and comparable data would be helpful to explain why codes in the first place and thus the value of being able to automate codes.

References/links to other kinds of standard codes, such as ISO Country Codes, U.S. Dept. of Labor Standard Occupational Codes (SOC), and W3C Schema.org would be valuable. Jgoodell2 (talk) 16:54, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
