Proposed update to overview section regarding March 2026 layoffs

[edit]

Hello everyone,

I'd like to propose a concise update to the overview section regarding the March 2026 layoffs. The current text ends somewhat abruptly. I suggest we weave in a bit more context from the CEO's official letter to better reflect the company's stated reasoning and sentiment regarding their restructuring and AI focus. IMO, it totally confirms the initial sources' claims while also admonishing the fact that these are not exactly new waters for this specific SaaS business or really that much of an industry "pivot" per se.

Current text: "In March 2026, Atlassian announced that it would lay off around 10% of its workforce to pivot into artificial intelligence and enterprise sales.[42]"

Proposed text: "In March 2026, Atlassian laid off approximately 10% of its workforce. [42] CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes described the move as a necessary adaptation to reshape the company's skill mix and self-fund investments in AI and enterprise sales.[1]"

Let me know if there are any objections or tweaks you'd recommend before I make this update to the live page.

Clarify Atlassian’s incorporation and principal offices

[edit]

The article’s description should more clearly reflect Atlassian’s Australian origins, current US incorporation and principal offices in both countries.

Atlassian’s official investor information states that the company was founded in Sydney in 2002, incorporated in Delaware in September 2022, and has principal offices in Sydney and San Francisco:

https://investors.atlassian.com/resources/investor-faqs/default.aspx

The company’s contact page describes Sydney as its global headquarters:

https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact

However, independent sources also recognize San Francisco as a headquarters or principal base:

I am not proposing that Atlassian’s Australian identity be removed. I suggest neutral wording that recognizes both its origins and current corporate structure:

“’’‘Atlassian Corporation’’’ is an international software company founded in Sydney, Australia, and incorporated in Delaware, United States. It maintains principal offices in Sydney and San Francisco, California.”

This avoids assigning a single nationality while accurately presenting its Australian origins, US incorporation and principal offices in both countries. I welcome input from other editors. Hal jordan lanterns (talk) 14:50, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

The current state of the article already sufficiently describes the state of fact

Thank you, but the current wording still omits the clearest and least disputable fact: Atlassian Corporation is incorporated in Delaware, United States.
This is not an interpretation about the company’s nationality. It is an explicit legal fact confirmed by Atlassian and its latest SEC filing. The cover page of the 2026 Form 10-K identifies:
• “Atlassian Corporation” as the registrant;
• “Delaware” as its state or jurisdiction of incorporation; and
• 350 Bush Street, San Francisco, as its principal executive-office address.
SEC filing:
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1650372/000165037226000036/team-20260630.htm
Atlassian’s investor FAQ independently states:
“We were incorporated in Delaware, United States in September 2022 with the name Atlassian Corporation.”
https://investors.atlassian.com/resources/investor-faqs/default.aspx
Therefore, saying only that Atlassian has a “US-domiciled parent holding company” is unnecessarily vague when the precise jurisdiction—Delaware—is confirmed by both the company and the SEC. Including Delaware does not remove or diminish Atlassian’s Australian origins.
Separately, Atlassian’s website calls Sydney its “Global HQ” and San Francisco its “US HQ.” I accept that distinction:
https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact
I propose the following precise and balanced wording:
“’’‘Atlassian Corporation’’’ is an international software company founded in Sydney, Australia, and incorporated in Delaware, United States. It maintains its global headquarters in Sydney and its US headquarters and principal executive office in San Francisco, California.”
At minimum, the article should explicitly state that the current parent company is incorporated in Delaware. If this undisputed and properly sourced fact is opposed, please identify the relevant Wikipedia policy supporting its omission. Hal jordan lanterns (talk) 17:05, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
The wording US-domiciled parent company is not vague, US includes Delaware, and from international standpoint (English Wikipedia is not US centric) it is an acceptable description. By your proposed wording you're trying to, very hard I might add, steer this company to be US and US only. The Delaware corporation is a pure holding company for the purpose of easier access to American market, the company itself remains international with its center in Australia with US only as a secondary HQ location, just like all other national HQs of the company around the world. This type of forcefulness in pushing the PPOV that all companies that have any sort of structures in the US are American is indicative of the WP:Long-term abuse/Linde plc vandal.
DawidRafał (talk) 09:24, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree that Atlassian should not be described as American only, and I agree that it identifies Sydney as its global headquarters. My proposal is narrower: the current parent, Atlassian Corporation, is incorporated in Delaware, as stated in its [https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1650372/000165037226000036/team-20260630.htm 2026 Form 10-K]. The same filing lists San Francisco as its principal executive office, while Atlassian’s [https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact contact page] identifies Sydney as its global HQ and San Francisco as its US HQ.
Would you be open to retaining “international” and the Sydney headquarters description, while adding a separate, sourced sentence stating that the parent is incorporated in Delaware? I’m seeking other editors’ views on that specific wording. Hal jordan lanterns (talk) 09:31, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've changed the article accordingly adding a note that Atlassian Corporation is incorporated in Delaware
