- @2A00:23EE:2658:1563:9DFA:586D:C385:6425 because Atlantis is a protected state by Geneva, the people and state of Atlantis is to recieve protected status was passed as law in the Geneva convention J.Sunson (talk) 11:02, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- The Geneva convention protecting Atlantis has no effect of a Wikipedia article CreativeNightPainter (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
Why is this page protected? Just curious. I feel it's wrong to state that it's not real when there's no proof either way.

Donnelly's day seems to not relate to anything
[edit]I know from simple searches that Donnelly's probably refers to Ignatius L. Donnelly's birth date (Nov 3, 1831).
Should it show the date there? or have a mention of some sort?
I think it should be clarified. AnmPro (talk) 14:27, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yes we named him in the lede. Slatersteven (talk) 14:30, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
Morocco hypothesis - Edit request
[edit]Hello Wikipedia editors,
I would like to request adding the following paragraph to the "In the Atlantic Ocean" section of the Atlantis article, right after the Spartel mention.
This hypothesis is notable and has academic sources.
Proposed addition:
The hypothesis placing Atlantis in Morocco was notably advanced by German researcher Michael Hübner (1966–2013). Using a computer-based analysis of 51 geographical details from Plato's dialogues, Hübner identified the Souss-Massa plain as matching the description, citing the Atlas Mountains, Atlantic coastline, and historical copper mining in the region. Hübner's work specifically highlighted the area around Essaouira and Safi on the Atlantic coast."Atlantis in Morocco?". Atlantipedia. Retrieved 27 August 2026.
According to Hübner's research, the plain and its adjacent valleys are still referred to as an ‘island’ by the native Amazigh people of the region."Atlantis in Morocco?". Atlantipedia. Retrieved 27 August 2026.
The Moroccan historian Abdellah Laroui also famously described Morocco as "an island", a term that literally corresponds with both Plato's description of Atlantis as an island and Hübner's geographical identification.""المغرب جزيرة" .. حين يُقتطع فكر العروي". Hespress (in Arabic). 2025. Retrieved 27 August 2026.
Some scholars have also noted the ancient Libyan tribe known as the Atlantes, mentioned by Herodotus as inhabiting the area around the Atlas Mountains.Herodotus (2003). The Histories. Penguin Classics. Today this region lies within Tamazgha, the Amazigh name for North Africa meaning "the land of the free". It remains the continuous cultural heartland of the Amazigh people, whose presence and heritage in the western Maghreb span millennia. Ancient Egyptian depictions of North African peoples, including figures identified as Amazigh with distinctive dress and customs, bear striking similarities to Amazigh cultural practices that persist in the area to the present day.Grimal, Nicolas (1992). A History of Ancient Egypt. Wiley-Blackwell.

- 'Atlantipedia' does not remotely meet our sourcing requirements at WP:RS. Your other citations are not actually about the subject of this article and the content they are attached to does not meet the requirements of WP:NOR. - MrOllie (talk) 14:18, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
- @MrOllie Thank you for the feedback. Do you know what kind of sources would be acceptable to demonstrate notability for Hübner's hypothesis? Is there a way to cite his book directly? A Nnnnnnn 07 (talk) 14:29, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hübner's ideas are discussed, with citations to his writings, at Hypothetical locations of Atlantis#Northwest Africa. That seems sufficient. I don't see what your last paragraph above has to do with Atlantis. Deor (talk) 15:25, 27 August 2026 (UTC)

Please change "Gunnar Rudberg was the first who elaborated upon the idea" to "Gunnar Rudberg was the first to elaborate upon the idea" to correct the grammar. Tonio Fenech (talk) 16:16, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks. AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:30, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
Is there a reason Dvārakā isn't included in the See Also section
[edit]It's a mythical sunken city, so I feel like it would fit.

- The See Also section has a tendency to get out of hand and become a dumping ground for a multitude of WP:OFFTOPIC locations; it requires weeding, not filling with chance resemblencies. England also has its fair share of drowned towns (Dunwich) and villages (Derwent, Derbyshire), the phantom bells of which are heard tolling at night. Such sites are sometimes referred as as "the Atlantis of" ...wherever... and fit into an established folkloric pattern. Mention of Dvaraka already exists in the proper place for it, the article on Lost lands. Sweetpool50 (talk) 09:08, 25 September 2026 (UTC)
