As I expanded the material on the black argillite from the Charlottes it seemed to make sense that this topic becomes a separate artice; there's certainly enough material to warrant one, and it's a specialized type of argillite - so special that the standard line, including on the Museum of Civilizaton site, is that it's unique worldwide. They get it wrong, they think it's the only kind of argillite; it's just a very useful, very beautiful one, but with a specific culture and history to it that implies other categories and wikiproject templates not suitable for a mineral article, at least not at length; such an article would for example be in Category:First Nations culture and also Category:Haida and {{NorthAmNative}} and {{WikiProject Canada}}, among others - {{Visual arts}} comes to mind; this article would not.Skookum1 (talk) 04:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Articles on other sites state that the base rock of New Zealand is argillite, however, this article makes no mention of argillite existing in New Zealand.
