Primary sources

[edit]

I tagged the article with a Primary Sources cleanup template because most of the references appear to be to Arca Noae's website. --William Graham talk 19:22, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

The entire article looks like an 1990s software advertisement written by the company themselves. WP:Spam for SEO.

I suggest shortening the article to a simple encyclopedia entry:

ArcaOS is a proprietary operating system based on OS/2, developed and marketed by Arca Noae, LLC under license from IBM. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-44754-84 (talk) 02:57, 16 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup following August 2026 deletion and restoration

[edit]

This article was speedy-deleted under WP:G11 on 16 August and restored by the deleting administrator on 24 August (deletion review). As promised there, I have now made a cleanup pass (diff) to address the promotional concerns:

  • Removed material that read as promotional or forward-looking: a sentence comparing NetDrive license tiers (cited to the vendor's shop page), the list of features "proposed" for future 5.1.x releases, several "planned for future releases" clauses, and promotional pricing details.
  • Condensed the hardware-requirements table and the installation section, which were sourced entirely to the vendor's wiki, into brief prose (WP:NOTMANUAL).
  • Condensed the lead's technical description, which carried five citations for uncontroversial claims (WP:OVERCITE).
  • Fixed three citation errors (wrong reference on the 5.1.2 table row, a title typo and wrong date on the 5.1.0 reference, and two swapped reference titles in the Filesystems section).

Net effect: about fourteen citations to arcanoae.com and YouTube removed, no independent sources lost. The {{refimprove-spam}} and {{Primary sources}} tags are still in place — I've left them for others to assess rather than removing them myself, since I was the DRV nominator. Remaining vendor citations are mostly bare release-date announcements in the release history table; I'd welcome other eyes on whether the tags are still warranted, and I'm happy to keep working on replacing primary sources with independent coverage.
