She talked about standing for PC at school on Crwydro, S4C, last night. I can't find an English version of the page, but there's a summary in Welsh on http://www.bbc.co.uk/cymru/gogleddddwyrain/bywyd_bro/pages/ann_clwyd_crwydro.shtml (Is the fact that she speaks Welsh worth noting in the article, incidentally?)

As for the Tower Colliery story, I remember it happening, but I had to rely on a lot of Googling for the date, and it's still later than I thought.

Why does the article start with the name "Ann Clwyd Roberts" I can't see a reference where she uses that name. Rachel Pearce (talk) 13:21, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I had been born Ann Clwyd Lewis and was now Ann Clwyd Roberts but the long name seemed cumbersone and had the appearance of a double-barrelled name, which was highly unfashionable in the '60s.

Is there a reliable source for Ann Clwyd's place of birth? The article says both that she was born in Halkyn and that she was born in Pentre Halkyn, but doesn't give a usable source for either place.

Looking elsewhere, archive.org includes old copies of "Debrett's People of Today"^[1] and "Who's Who",^[2] but neither mention a place of birth. It also has a copy of the autobiography, which says on page 2 that she was "actually born in Denbighshire",^[3] but gives no more details than that. There were obituaries in various newspapers, but different ones I've found said that she was born in Pentre Halkyn,^[4] Halkyn,^[5] Flintshire^[6] and Denbigh.^[7]

There seems to be agreement that she was born somewhere in North Wales, but can we be more specific than that? Aoeuidhtns (talk) 21:53, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
