"Anemoi"

[edit]

It seems to me that these figures are more commonly referred to using the English word "winds" than the proper noun "Anemoi". See, for instance, the following reference works:

  • Burkert, Gantz, Hard, Brill's New Pauly, Hansen, Tripp, Parada, Cambridge Companion to Greek Mythology: "winds"
  • LIMC: "Venti"
  • Oxford Classical Dictionary: "wind-gods"
  • PaulyWissowa: "Anemoi"
