Editing Andrew Plotkin

[edit]

I rewrote this article to try to emphasize what is encyclopedia-worthy about its subject.

Stuff I removed, some of which should perhaps be restored:

  • "is a computer programmer, game designer, and puzzle enthusiast"
  • the tabletop Icehouse game Martian Go
  • StonerView, a re-creation of SGI's ElectroPaint screen saver
  • Expanded, sometimes non-NPOV descriptions of his games
  • Mention of the XYZZY awards he's won; Wikipedia already contains a list of award winners
  • Mention of "Capture the Flag With Stuff"
  • Long descriptions of Glk, Glulx, and Blorb, unnecessary since they have their own articles

Hi, BenRG, thanks for putting this here. I'm just an anonymous surfer looking for info on Plotkin's IF, and was shocked that he also invented a significant Icehouse Game, which I've encountered in a completely different context. So, I think it is worth mentioning. -- 204.169.50.26 (talk) 21:51, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

New picture?

[edit]

Somebody please consider replacing the awful PNH picture attached to this post, with this other CC-license image, http://www.flickr.com/photos/30695675@N07/4477610221/ . The world will thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.240.27.4 (talk) 18:20, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
