Change this: In the late 1960s, Bachchan applied to be a newsreader for All India Radio in Delhi, but "failed the audition".[38][40] He became a business executive for Bird & Company in Kolkata (Calcutta),[38] [when?] and worked in theatre before starting his film career.[41] It is thought that his mother might have had some influence on his choice of career, for she always insisted that he should "take centre stage".[42][according to whom?]
To this: In the late 1960s, Bachchan applied to be a newsreader for All India Radio in Delhi, but "failed the audition". He subsequently moved to Kolkata, where he worked as a business executive with Bird & Company and remained active in theatre prior to entering the film industry. During this period in Kolkata, he was also a patron of Trincas on Park Street, a restaurant and live music venue frequented by film personalities, musicians, and political figures of the time. Not done for now: Please indicate what sources would be used where. The new wording does not seem to address the "when" concern currently in there, and you've removed all the sources. Not clear how this improves things. meamemg (talk) 20:49, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Please change: "His dominance in the Indian film industry during the 1970s–80s led the French director François Truffaut to describe it as a "one-man industry"
To: His dominance in the Hindi film industry during the 1970s–80s led the French director François Truffaut to describe it as a "one-man industry".
(The reason is that India has many different film industries, corresponding to different languages. It is not accurate to say that the entirety of Indian film industry was encapsulated by Mr. Bachchan.) ~2026-36141-69 (talk) 13:58, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
Partly done: I changed it from "describe it as" to "describe him as", per the given source. Hopefully this addresses your concern. meamemg (talk) 17:58, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
