I am interested in information on a US military installation which was located on Amapala in the 1970's and 1980's, during the Sandinista-Contra war. An electronic listening post apparently. Whatever you might know would be interesting, I have no connection to the US government or to anything else, I visited Amapala as a tourist in 1998 and ran across this bit of info. I hiked up to the top of the island and saw the installation. It was fenced off with signs prohibiting entry. Quite abandoned. If I was sure of the facts about this, I would enter it into the article.
