Penn and Temple

It is unclear to me how Penn ended up with Beta chapter without a merger, even though the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery which merged into Penn had hosted Alpha Omega's founding Ramach chapter. Ramach instead moved its charter to Temple, which, though Temple had previously absorbed some faculty twenty years prior from the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery, by then that was long in the rear view mirror. Why combine with Theta? Was this simply due to members' choices in where they transferred? The schools are near to each other. Was Theta weaker, and therefore this was an attempt to shore them up? I've noted it in the article as best I can figure it out. It remains a strange way to split the school, with assets going one way, and the students another. Jax MN (talk) 21:34, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

The writing style of the history is not very precise and, therefore, lacks clarity. The answer is that PCDS did not merge with Penn; it simply gave its remaining supplies to Penn. PCDS closed in June 1908, without a merger. Ramach moved from PCDS to Medico-Chirurgical College of Philadelphia in October 1909. Alpha Omega and Ramach merged in December 1909, meaning that the Alpha Omega Ramach chapter was located at Medico-Chirurgical College of Philadelphia, and never at PCDS. As to why Theta and Ramach consolidated when Medico closed, it appears that Ramach's members transferred to Temple. At least, that is my interpretation. Rublamb something is wrong in the symbols area. It looks like an Alpha Omega pin is described as being from AZG. Also, bolding. I'm not quite sure when that was introduced, the issue with the pin misnaming goes back a while. Ideas?Naraht (talk) 03:15, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Fixed it. The source is for Alpha Omega. Since the section above was previously on Alpha Zeta Gamma, it was probably just a mistake. Rublamb (talk) 04:14, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
