Names

[edit]

I thought it would be suitable to known both synonymous names for the same hero-king within the Shahnameh. The exploits of Alp Er Tunga is a valued and respected part of Turkish culture, and should be recognized as the other etymological side to the same coin.

Etymology of Tunga

[edit]

"Tunga" is not Urdu.

"Tunga" is a Turkish word which has similars in Mongolian as well such as Ton (silence), Tonoh (to loot), etc. In Turkish, it means "Leopard".
