This article asserts that the Ge'ez liturgical rite is a "sub-group" of the Alexandrian liturgical rite, but it does not cite a source to this effect. Related articles go on to mention this, again without any source. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church article specifies the liturgy as "Alexandrian" in its infobox, and then does not use the terms "Alexandrian", "Alexandrian rite" nor "Alexandrian liturgy" etc. anywhere else in the article nor does it cite any source for it. I am not disputing that the Coptic and Ge'ez liturgies are similar; after all the churches are in communion with one another so one would not expect them to be very different (though one might suppose this about any churches whose liturgy is structured like a mass or qurban etc.). Also not disputing that there is a liturgy that is in the Ge'ez language. What isn't clear, much less sourced, is if or how the Ge'ez rite is Alexandrian. (I figure the Coptic church is Alexandrian by the simple fact that it's based in Alexandria.) Gyrofrog(talk)19:02, 15 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

The remaining issue (I think), and more of a stylistic question, is calling these "sub-groups."
