Correction to short description: British, not Welsh

[edit]

Hello. I am Alexandra Boyd, the subject of this article, so I am declaring a conflict of interest and requesting that an independent editor review this change rather than making the substantive edit myself.

The current short description describes me as a “Welsh actress, writer, director and producer.” I was born in Bangor, Wales, but I did not grow up in Wales and do not describe myself professionally as Welsh. The article itself currently describes me as a British actress.

I would therefore like to request that the short description be changed from:

“Welsh actress, writer, director and producer”

to:

“British actress, filmmaker and writer”

I am also preparing some factual corrections and properly sourced updates to the article covering my more recent work, which I will submit separately rather than making a large direct edit.

Thank you. ~2026-52473-41 (talk) 18:50, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Done. Even just from the article currently (Scottish father, English mother, born in Wales, grew up in England) it makes more sense to use British. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 20:51, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Proposed update to introductory paragraphs

[edit]

Hello again. I am Alexandra Boyd, the subject of this article, and am continuing to submit proposed changes here because of my conflict of interest.

I would like to suggest a revision to the opening paragraphs. The current introduction contains some repetition — for example, *Mr. Holland's Opus* is mentioned twice — and the wording that I have turned to screenwriting and directing “in recent years” is now outdated.

I am not proposing any new biographical claims in this request, but rather a clearer summary of information already contained in the article.

    • Current opening:**

“Alexandra Boyd is a British actress, director, screenwriter and producer. Her acting credits include playing Sarah Olmsted in *Mr. Holland's Opus* (1995) and Clarissa Mason in the 2008 season of *Coronation Street*. In recent years she has turned to screenwriting and film directing. She wrote and directed her debut feature *Widow's Walk* which debuted on Amazon Prime in December 2019.”

followed by a second paragraph which repeats several acting credits.

    • Proposed replacement:**

“Alexandra Boyd is a British actress, filmmaker and writer. As an actress, she has appeared in films including *Mr. Holland's Opus*, James Cameron's *Titanic* and *From Paris with Love*, and on British television as Clarissa Mason in *Coronation Street*. She is also known for voicing Elaine Marley in the *Monkey Island* video game series.

Boyd founded the production company New Thirty Pictures in 2013. She wrote, directed and produced her debut feature film, the supernatural thriller *Widow's Walk*, which was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. Her second feature is the documentary *Ship of Dreams: Titanic Movie Diaries*, about the experiences of supporting actors who worked on *Titanic*.”

I believe this provides a more concise introduction and reflects the acting and filmmaking material already contained elsewhere in the article without repeating it.

I am preparing separately sourced requests concerning more recent work and will submit those individually.

Thank you. ~2026-52473-41 (talk) 02:41, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
