Proposed addition: Collaboration with James S. Albus and Multiresolutional Theory of Mind

I would like to propose adding the following section to the article to better highlight Alexander Meystel's foundational 1989 NASA paper on multiresolutional knowledge processing and his subsequent influential collaboration with James S. Albus.

The section outlines their joint development of the multiresolutional theory of mind and its significance in robotics and intelligent systems. This work is detailed in their 2001 book, *Engineering of Mind: An Introduction to the Science of Intelligent Systems*.

The 1989 paper laid important groundwork prior to the collaboration and provides valuable context.

@Meystel I've made some edits and have some more suggestions about changes that I don't have the knowledge about him to make properly

The lead could use some expansion, maybe a broad overview of his work or brief mentions of the most significant things that are described in more detail later, like the IEEE involvement

The Selected IEEE publications just reads like a raw list of references. If a reference or list of all of them exists, that would be better. Then either the reference used on a paragraph about the IEEE publications, or maybe a table. Either way I don't think an entire section is warranted.

Your proposed edit makes sense to include but I also don't think it warrants an entire section. Unless it's exceptionally significant it could just be an expansion of the Career section.

The Professional leadership section could also be merged with Career. Or maybe Selected IEEE publications and Professional leadership could be merged

Media coverage and recognition would be better if the content of the coverage was integrated into the rest of the article rather than just as a section with lists. This also reads like a list of references that you couldn't find a place for.

Overall seems like most of the content is worth including but just needs to be integrated better.

Of course feel free to disagree with or correct me on any of this, you know him and his field much better than I do. This is just my impression from reading it Actualcreature (talk) 15:01, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello again @Actualcreature, I guess my question is -- does any of this feedback preclude actually releasing the article? There are so many articles on Wikipedia that are published and marked "this article could use some work" (or something). @Meystel because you have a conflict of interest, once the draft is published you should not edit it directly so best to get any improvements in while it is still a draft. S0091 (talk) 18:35, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

@Meystel Oh, I'm not an admin or anything so I don't have any special knowledge about that. Those were just my thoughts as a reader/editor for what I reckon could give it a better chance. bio box and education creds question

Thank you to @Crispybeatle for the bio box, that looks great. I do have a question. Taking as an example the page of my father's friend and colleague Jim Albus, it does list the degrees he received in parentheses. Would it make sense to shorten the Education in the bio box, since the ENIMS acronym is unfurled in the body of the Early Life section, and say "ENIMS (PhD)" ?

Middle Initial and Date of Death

Earlier today I made a few edits to this page to add a source for this person's middle initial and date of death, and those edits were undone, citing pure promo. I would like to re-introduce citations but it would be counterproductive to gyrate the page back and forth, so maybe let's talk first @S0091. So I found these sources. Please lmk whether they would be considered reliable secondary sources or not, and if not, what would.

Concerning date of death, there does not appear to be any online obituary from 2010, nor reference in any online publication available any longer but as stated in the removed reference, public records (that are mined by non-authoritative sources) do list the date of death as indicated in the wiki article.

The other section that was removed was suggestion when the page was created, and it eliminated orphan status. If it belongs in career then maybe put it in career instead of undoing a big chunk of content that fixed another problem? Or is that not how it works here? Kind of new. Thanks. None of the sources you have listed are secondary sources nor are most of the sources cited in the article. If he is listed as an author, that is a primary source and unfortunately most of the article is supported by his own work rather than what others unaffiliated with him wrote about him or his work. @BrimDust the American men & women of science has his dob and some information about his career. It's freely available at the Internet Archive so you can use it to expand his bio a little more. I could not find anything about his death and we can't use the sources you previously cited because one is user-generated and we can't use things like the SSDI. I did try scouring through the Drexel website archives hoping there was an obituary or announcement but it looks like they didn't start most of their archiving until 2012 and I don't think they archived down to that level. For example, I did find him listed in a 2009-2010 directory but the link to his profile was not archived, unfortunately. I had already checked Newspapers.com and ProQuest when this was still in draft. I found an obituary for his wife but not him. S0091 (talk) 19:09, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
