Religion

[edit]

There seems to be some suggestion info box code that is religion cannot be reliably established. As he had an Anglican funeral he was an Anglican, no? Mark Hamid (talk) 20:34, 5 August 2016 (UTC) Mark Hamid (talk) 20:34, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Not necessarily; Anglican is kind-of a default setting for English citizens who don't declare themselves RC, Methodist, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu etc. Anyway, the |religion= parameter is controversial: as noted at Template:Infobox person#religion and as agreed at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Archive 126#RfC: Religion in biographical infoboxes, "this parameter should be included only where significant to the article subject. Be sure to support with a citation in the article body to a reliable source." So, if religious matters were a significant part of the subject's life (having a church funeral doesn't really count), describe it in the prose with a source and it may then be included in the infobox. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
