Armstrong's officeholder infobox describes him as "Senator-elect." However, it should display as "Senator-designate" since he was appointed to the office. I'm not sure how to adjust this here or for other appointees. ScottKinard (talk) 16:23, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I added information from birth records accessed through Ancestry.com about Armstrong's birth (date and place) and I searched the names listed for his parents on Google to confirm the record was for the right guy, but I wasn't sure if there is a way I should go about citing that additional information, as it doesn't contribute to the content of the article beyond establishing that the information in the record cited for birth info is correct. I am very new to editing and still learning, so I apologize if I've gone about this poorly! I just noticed the lack of information regarding Armstrong's date of birth on this page and wanted to add what I found. Feedback appreciated.:) Jujub72 (talk) 20:37, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Alan S. Armstrong → Alan Armstrong (U.S. senator) – It appears from various media sources that he isn't referred to using his middle initial. This is confirmed by many Wikipedia pages piping his name as "Alan Armstrong" without the middle initial.
Thus the current article title doesn't follow WP:COMMONNAME. So it needs a dab, but what should it be? Not "politician", because that's not his main occupation: he's a businessman. Considering this article was created only after he was appointed as senator when Markwayne Mullin stepped down, he was apparently not notable as a businessman. So I'll go for "U.S. senator" as proposed dab, because that's undeniable. That is also the dab Alaska senator Dan Sullivan has. ~2026-40760-90 (talk) 14:57, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Support a move from Alan S. Armstrong. Nearly all sources refer to subject as simply "Alan Armstrong". Since Wikipedia has no other entries for senators named "Alan Armstrong", a simple Alan S. Armstrong → Alan Armstrong (senator) would suffice, although I would not oppose restoration of the original main title header — Alan Armstrong (politician) — since an individual holding the position of a U.S. senator, even someone who never campaigned or was elected to a political office, can be considered a politician by achievement of holding such office.—Roman Spinner(talk • contribs)17:34, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
