Iñupiaq name

[edit]

The Iñupiaq (Alaskan Inuit) name for «violin» is agiaġnaq atuqtuuraq [lit. “a musical instrument that you file”] < agik- or agiaq- «to rub, smooth or cut (it) away with a file» (Source: Iñupiatun Uqaluit Taniktun Sivunniuġutiŋit / North Slope Iñupiaq to English Dictionary by Edna Ahgeak MacLean, Alaska Native Languages Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks, 2011) --Kmoksy (talk) 21:23, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
