[edit]So, I was searching for a good description of the term "African", and was very suprised to see that wikipedia only had a redirect to Africa. European and other continent and union groups have their own pages so I thought I would start one for the term "African"

- The merge with Africa (disambiguation) is a bad idea. None of the non-primary articles on Africa (disambiguation) have anything to do with "African", and none of the non-primary articles on African have anything to do with "Africa". 87.114.153.20 (talk) 12:02, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

- Oppose. Why not follow what we do for European or Asian, i.e. leave things as they are? Failing that, African could redirect to African people. The proposed merge of African with Africa (disambiguation) is also a bad idea. 87.114.153.20 (talk) 12:02, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. I'd be in favor of redirecting European and Asian, too. The primary meanings in all three cases are the continents. (And don't bother pointing to American as that is clearly a different situation.) --Russ (talk) 15:12, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. My complaint is that, if this move goes ahead, someone searching for "African", the people, the song or the novel, is going to have to now run through all the meanings of the word "Africa" before finding what they are after. How many links to African should actually be to Africa? we need to work out how much this move is going to help people, and how much it will be a nuisance. 87.112.29.103 (talk) 12:55, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
