Citaton question

[edit]

Do we need a citation for Russell Simmons' statement? I feel like since it's the only statement not sourced, it should be deleted, because, in my opinion, the section feels real wordy.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Coridqwet999 (talkcontribs) 07:25, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect info

[edit]

I was redirected here from the Beastie Boys wiki. I don't think Yauch had anytning to do with Daft Punk, but there seems to have been a mix up between Thomas Bangaltier and Adam Yauch on this page. 91.233.50.102 (talk) 12:50, 3 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Name of subject's child

[edit]

An edit regarding adding the name of Yauch's daughter was removed for not being a "notable child". Also, names of the children of Yauch's bandmate Michael Diamond are given on their Wikipedia pages. Despite them not having their own page, it does not mean they are not notable. I would argue this is an edit worth keeping; just as Diamond's kids are notable in their own right as performers/his back-up band, (Tenzin) Losel Yauch is also an artist with multiple exhibitions to her name. Being his sole child as well as a public figure, and referred by her name in multiple sources, interviews, etc, it makes sense to refer to her by her name in the speech and multiple articles too. ~2026-34415-24 (talk) 13:07, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Despite the clarification, a user edit war has arisen with edits repeatedly reverted although the user reverting them does not clarify in the talk responses. It is common to mention children's names if they are mentioned in notable sources (eg for Yauch Rolling Stone) and also are notable outside of Wikipedia as shown by her being featured separately for her work and existing as an artist outside of being Yauch's child. ~2026-35947-86 (talk) 14:58, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I would argue that unless the child is a minor and has been kept out of the public eye (like Yauch's bandmate Horovitz's son) there is no reason not to mention them by name if there are well enough sources backing it up and they have achievements to their own right, all of which fit the criteria for including the name of Yauch's daughter. ~2026-35947-86 (talk) 15:05, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
