Ad fraudAdvertising fraud – "Ad" is an informal abbreviation. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 18:16, 8 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 22:24, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Legality

[edit]

The article doesn't say anything about the legality of ad fraud. Information about this would be relevant. Is it legally considered fraud, or is it just a jargon term (in the way that "piracy" isn't actually piracy)? Have there been legal cases in this area?--Exjerusalemite (talk) 21:23, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Non-profit activity" Section is not Neutral

[edit]

I do not believe this section to be neutral. It shifts the tone of the page into an argument that is pro-advertisers. 69.61.139.83 (talk) 05:45, 26 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Proposed update to statistics in lead section — COI disclosure (SpiderAF-ResearchTeam)

Proposed Edit — Conflict of Interest Disclosure

[edit]

I am editing under the username SpiderAF-ResearchTeam and work for Spider AF, an ad fraud prevention company. Per Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines, I will not directly add promotional material. Instead, I am suggesting factual, verifiable updates to improve the accuracy of this article.

The opening section currently contains statistics from 2023 and earlier. I propose adding the following paragraph **after the sentence ending with “projected to grow to $172 billion by 2028.”**:

---

According to Spider AF’s 2025 Annual Ad Fraud White Paper, which analyzed more than 4.14 billion advertising clicks in 2024, the estimated global losses from digital ad fraud reached **US $37.7 billion**. The average ad fraud rate across major media platforms was **5.12%**, with some networks experiencing rates as high as **46.9%**. Industry-specific analysis in the same report found that the **financial sector** had the highest ad fraud rate at **14.3%**, followed by **telecommunications** (11.1%), **real estate** (7.6%), and **education** (4.3%).[1]

---

    • Rationale:**

This addition updates the article with the most recent verified global loss figures and highlights industry segments most impacted by ad fraud. The source is publicly accessible, non-promotional, and verifiable.
