The question of Indigenous Arabs in Sudan

Alodia and Soba fell to Arabs who were settlers (traders and such). Why are we calling Sudanese Arab tribes indigenous, when they overthrew the natives that predated and permitted their settlement? It looks like a double standard to me, especially since Arab-islamic caliphates were imperial and conquered the identities of many parts of the levant, Mesopotamia and North Africa. If we treat the Americas as colonized and conquered, why don't we treat Sudan as such? Unlike Egypt and Morocco, Sudan wasn't exactly 100% conquered. Johnoth (talk) 07:52, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
