Based on "The Chicken"

So, I just saw the short and I recall it says it is based on the story "The Chicken" first published in the New York Literary Review in 1986 by Casper G. Glausen. Every review of this short seems to mention this fact. One Yahoo review even calls him an "acclaimed author." The thing is, I can't find any record of this guy. The only thing I found on the "New York Literary Review" says that it never actually existed (assuming the "confession" is not itself a hoax).

I did find a short short called "The Chicken" that matches the scenario in the film. It appears in the 2001 book "True Tales of American Life" by Paul Auster, apparently assembled from NPR listener story submissions.

So, is the Glausen authorship reference an in-joke, citing a non-existent author in a non-existent publication? Or is the story from the Auster book plagarism from an earlier work that has no internet presence? Any ideas? Neltana (talk) 03:51, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
