I don't know how they can be called "obsolete" when Western Digital still offers specific AV hards drives, distinct from their other models: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/index.asp?cat=7.90.199.141.41 (talk) 14:20, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if they're still made in 2020, but back in 2010 - when the above comment was made - there were surveillance hard drives optimised for use with surveillance cameras. There's frustratingly little about them on the internet. Some sources state that their firmware prioritised read/write operations and sustained throughput over random reads, others say that they were simple rebadged desktop hard drives. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 11:29, 23 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
